The BFI Unlocking Film Heritage Programme, launched by the British Film Institute in 2012, is one of the most eye-catching international projects.

The programme for the preservation and dissemination of a unique cinematic and cultural heritage covers nearly one million publications from more than 100 years of film history. It includes film classics such as "The Third Man" or "Lawrence of Arabia" as well as tens of thousands of documentaries of British life.

As one of the central partners for the digitisation of this significant collection, the BFI chose the digitisation and content specialist dc1.

A large part of the content of this internationally relevant project is already integrated by the British Film Institute in a worldwide accessible portal, the BFI Player.

Almost 25 million people already have access to these important films.

dc1 has also been tasked with digitisation in the prestigious “Heritage 2022” Video digitisation project.
